Things go Wrong…. Panic or…….

As a sit here on a Coffee Plantation in Timor Leste (I will be back in Australia by the time this is published) I am reviewing the Youth led International Project that I am a part of and ponder…. What do I do when things go wrong? As part of the project there have been a number of challenges that have presented themselves to the team of teenagers. I have been very impressed with the maturity and positive attitude that they have displayed in dealing with the challenges. It is a good lesson to all of us in what to do when things go wrong.

The main issue was that our accommodation in Maubisse the primary part of the Community Service part of the project was not available until three days after originally planned. The team dealt with this accommodation issue as a team and decided to stay in Dili two extra nights before heading up to Maubisse. As the accommodation in Maubisse was not available that night, they stayed in an alternative accommodation, the Pousada de Maubisse. The accommodation was listed in the Lonely Planet Guide as a must do. So in the end the team had a great experience that would not have occurred if the original problem had not occurred.

The team has truly demonstrated the art of turning “Lemons into Lemonade” like my blog “Adventure on the Way Home”.
